The world of Homeric poems is a world
of islands separated by the sea, isolated
mini-universes, not similar to one another,
inhabited by people and unusual creatures,
ruled by their own rulers and laws.
They are separated, but still achievable,
although not always easy, and swimming
can take months and years.
